Pre-Valentine's Day Book Signing Event!                                                   January 29, 2011

On Saturday, February 12, 2011 I have been invited to be a part of the Love, Bread & Books book signing event at Great Harvest Bread Company, located on the corner of Main and 5th Streets in Old Town Warrenton. And I'd like to bring you all along, too!

From 10am to 2pm I'll be at Great Harvest to meet and greet, sign books and talk about my experiences in taking control of my family's healthcare. You can come just for the bread, just for the book or combine them both with the purchase of a Love, Bread & Books Valentine's gift bag!

To see the actual invitation, click on the invitation below, which will take you to the Bargaining for Our Lives facebook event: Love, Bread & Books.

Shakin' it Up!                                                                                                    July 16, 2010

This morning I was jolted out of bed at 5 a.m.. The entire house was shaking, the windows were rattling and a calm panic ran through my veins. Apparently I was alone in this - everyone else slept on peacefully, none the wiser.

In northern Virginia we don't see many earthquakes - in fact I believe that this was my first. I didn't like it. Being a fair optimist though, I decided to let this jolting start to my day be an opportunity - what is the universe trying to tell me?

I think it's trying to say, "Shake it up, girl!" And so I shall. I've been claiming to be "about to" start a blog on this site since it's inception many moons ago. Not only did I not do this, but I've been guiltily writing blogs and articles for several other web sites, some for free! Expanding my Internet exposure has been great and I routinely get messages from strangers who've happened to find my site, my work, my book and wanted to reach out and let me know, but it's time to start providing more interest, traffic, content, help, hints, knowledge, information here...to my own followers and friends.

And so I start a new chapter, so to speak. I'll be trying my best to come up with fun, informative and important content so that I can share more with you all once a week. BUT....if I'm going to shake it up in the name of earthquake awakeness, you gotta, too! Put me in your bookmarks, tell your friends, follow me on Twitter (@jeheyns and/or @Bargaining4), buy my book, buy a book to give - anything you can to help.

Aside from trying to shamelessly market myself and my book Bargaining for Our Lives, I do have a lot of valuable information to share. Everyone needs to have good quality and affordable healthcare, regardless of whether they have health insurance or not. I've been wheeling and dealing my own healthcare for the better part of a decade now and it really can be done, as long as you're willing to put in a little legwork.

My next big project is another Bargaining book - this one dealing more with the topic of living on less. The tentative title is Beg, Barter and Bargain the American Dream and it will show you how to decrease your expenses/spending and increase your awareness of everyday costs so that you can make smarter decisions about your money and where it goes.

Stay with me - there's definitely more to come. I'll be blogging more here and when a new post is available I'll send out a holler across Twitter.
